I don't know if 21st century Africa will show advances in this respect, but let's not kid ourselves that any other society (most of which have much less room for self-criticism than does the West) has done better in this respect. At least part of the West, part of the time, takes its highest ideals and aspirations quite seriously. Find me another society that does that. Arab/Muslim society? OMG, I'll laugh so hard I might wet myself! India? Lissen, dude: the Sanskrit word for caste (varda) also means COLOR!

The racism of East Asian societies is even worse than the West. Latin America pretends not to be racist but the racism is there--and largely unacknowledged. Heard enough?
