One thing I like doing with the lyrics I write is taking traditional ‘country’ themes and flipping them either on their back, side or sometimes even their heads. I hope what I write here might have something of the same effect where relationships between men and women are concerned.
First, to young males, some of whom show promise of becoming real men.
What I see as defining a real man I will mention later in this post.
The hormones may settle down as you get older, but they don’t vanish. I say this only to make the point that, although I am in my sixties, I and my dear wife still enjoy each other sexually. Less frequently than decades ago, but no less joyfully. If anything, more joyfully, as we’re grateful to still be able to do so!
And the preceding paragraph is written to make the point: I do have some memory of how urgently the hormones call between 15 and about thirty or so.
And I also suggest to you it can also be the time to show your hormones just who is master: you? Or they?
What would take more strength, more character? More….real manhood?
Following your lesser head and your gonads around or directing them as you choose to do? Responding blindly to all the sexual stimuli (and I admit, there’s lots of it around!) or, at the very least, doing some discriminating not based on fashion or other baubles? Imagine developing the strength to actually ignore all of that whatnot!
Here’s a truth many of you will find very unpleasant: none of we males, not even the real men among us, have any right to be loved or get laid. When a woman offers herself to a man, she invites him to put himself inside her. That’s serious, when you think about it. I only wish it…
