Are you at all familiar with Meister Eckhart? He was a medieval Christian mystic who said (and I say he's spot on) that the world is a web of relationships spun by God and to be cherished by humans. Before him, HIldegard of Bingen made similar observations. No doubt there are Jewish mystics who will affirm this too.

We get religion wrong when we try to grasp the Divine in fallen human ways rather than recognize, in the words that ol' Francis Albert sang, 'how little we know'--and that's most of us most of the time. Rightly understood and used religion re-states what Eckhart & co. said and there are even Biblical passages which at least point towards this fact!
