I don't know how much hermeneutics you know, but that instruction of Jesus's has a very interesting exegesis: He said, very specifically, if anyone strikes you on the right cheek, etc.
Now, in that time and place, everyone did everything with their right hands, except for, ahem, cleaning oneself back there. So, when someone strikes you with the right hand on the right cheek it will, at least initially, be a backhand slap, that is, a reminder to 'keep your place'. Turn the left cheek as if to say, 'Would you please repeat that message? I didn't understand' and a backhand slap will glance off your cheek. Now your ostensible superior can only strike you with is right hand on your left cheek by making a fist--but in that time and place, one didn't strike subordinates with a fist, but only equals! You see? If your 'superior' wants to strike you again, s/he can only do so as an equal!
It really is a masterpiece of moral jujitsu! So, I couldn't agree more! Take all them attempts to keep y'all 'in your place' and disable them to the power structure and the ignorant nasties who prop it up! You go, girl!!
