I think about a young man I know about to marry his best friend (female). His mother did serious scorched-earth jobs on him and his brother, who, for whatever reason, seemed to be more philosophical about it. I know what that can feel like. For me (I probably underwent less of a scorch than he did) it didn't lessen the attraction I felt for women when the hormones started to rise. But it did for him, I think. I never heard of him having any girlfriends till he announced his engagement. I think his fiancee must be quite an exceptional woman.

In any case, my point is, maternal abuse to a son can sometimes inhibit the course of the hormones.
