The Book of Job is most helpful in two respects. First, it reminds us that we are not the center of things but that God is. He is the coordinator of everything. Only He knows how it's all supposed to turn out; each of us only knows our wee piece of the world.
Second, I like the interpretation of this book in which Job speaks truth to the ultimate Power Which, divine admonition notwithstanding, is actually PLEASED to see a human being doing just that. I think this interpretation might soon become a good deal more influential and important than it's been to date.
