I wonder what would be the effect on femicides if those prone to that are reminded, on a fairly consistent basis, of a town in the diocese of Trier, Germany, which, some time during the Reformation, went absolutely mad over witchcraft. When the hysteria was over, that town had only two — repeat, only two — female inhabitants: a five-year-old and a grandma.
I have no idea if the males of that town managed to find new wives somewhere (probably pretty far afield, I’d guess) or whether the town just dissolved into history, but it might be a good idea to hold that town up as an illustration of the result of misogyny pushed to that point.
