It occurs to me that 'AOC' is also on the flag of the Dutch East India Company, the folks who founded Nieuw Amsterdam and New Netherland (Later NYC and New York State). Stuyvesant didn't want to let the Jews settle there, but the Company ordered it otherwise. Could today's AOC have more in common with old Peg-leg Peter then we know?
