Maybe not, but (at least to me) there seems to be a dynamic about having more than one national language that is keeping some parts of the English-speaking world from catching the madness currently afflicting England, the USA, and Australia. I don’t know how it might work or even if I have my finger on something. All I do know is that Canada, New Zealand and South Africa seem relatively sane. And that they all also have more than one national language. You got another hypothesis why they’re relatively sane and healthy while the monolingual countries mentioned above are imploding into madness and failure, by all means share it.
