One of the reasons France fell in 1940 was that it, too, was unwilling to face that comfortable lies were still lies. Also that they did not work out a way of being French that could include secularized Algerian Muslims, Arab or Tamazigh. Had that been done in the 1920s and 1930s, Algeria might still be three French departements.

Is it a HUMAN trait to prefer comfortable, easy lies to doing the hard work truth requires? I wonder.
