That is at least mitigated by the fact that women form friendships (at least it seems so) easier than man do and they stay in touch on a closer basis. Because of our culture, men have far fewer, if any, same-sex friends with whom they can share their loneliness.
My upbringing made mincemeat of any male 'entitlements' I might have conceived. I guess I was lucky, but that's probably also why a life alone with just pet animals looks pretty good to me compared with futile attempts at intimacy with women.
