What astounds me, when I remember it, is not the entirely-justified anger of the black community but rather that, with this hypocritical country breaking their hearts just about DAILY, most of them still don't give up on it! My ancestors fought in the Revolution and I am periodically SO dam' disgusted with the majority of whites here that I think of shaking its dust off MY feet along with spitting back across the border or onto the tarmac before takeoff!

And then I remember most of our African-American brethren and think, "A fine liberal I am--thinking of my sorry ass first before those hurt worse!" And return to the struggle.
